How we worship

Worship at our church combines both formal and informal elements.

We typically begin with with announcements followed by a time of silent preparation for worship as the organist plays.

We then follow with a responsive call to worship taken from a passage from Psalms.

Our first song then is sung.  It is followed by a prayer and the Lord's Prayer is said in unison.

We then sing another song and recite the Apostle's Creed in unison.

Next we have our children's sermon.  The children come to the front pew and the pastor or another member of the church gives the children a short talk followed by a treat.  The younger children then head back for children's church.

The choir then sings a special piece of music.

Next comes times for sharing joys and concerns we have.  This is followed by the pastoral prayer.

We then sing another song.

Then the pastor reads a passage of Scripture and preaches the sermon.

We then sing another song.

The offering is then taken, a prayer is offered and the service concludes with a blessing from the pastor.

On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord's supper after the offering.  This is open for any person who confesses faith in Jesus Christ.

Dress at church is usually informal.  Very few of the men wear ties and most of the women wear slacks.  On special occasions, the pastor will wear his pulpit robe.

On the 3rd Sunday of the month, worship is followed with a fellowship "potluck" dinner.  You are welcome to attend even if you have not brought anything.
